The Friday night lights will be glowing strong on October 13, as the Minot High School Varsity Team takes on Williston High School at Duane Carlson Stadium for their military themed football game. The team will be honoring local active military, retired veterans, law enforcement, and first responders. Erik Jolliffe, of Foremost Well Service and the man behind this event said, “Minot is a city where the Air Force Base is a huge part of the community and we want to create an event that shows our appreciation and says thank you to all the Active Duty and retired military, first responders, fire department, and police. It helps bring the community together and to celebrate the freedom that is provided by the armed forces”. The team and the booster club want to celebrate those that have dedicated their lives to keep us safe each day.
Starting with a warm-up to a military-themed playlist, the team has events planned through the entire night to show their appreciation. The National Guard will be landing at the Jim Hill Practice field at 4pm and will remain there for the duration of the game for families to go take a closer look, along with Humvees, Avengers System, and the tent/booth with the Guardsmen. Thanks to a local business here in Minot, the tickets for all any active duty or retired military, first responder, police, and firefighter will be free admission.
There are so many surprises in store for the community on Friday night and I will not spoil them all, but this is most definitely a game you do not want to miss! Be sure to grab a flag for your little ones and enjoy the game! I look forward to seeing you all there!
