Calling First Time Car Buyers: Tips & Tricks for Financial Success

Written by: Erin Beene

Everyone has to start somewhere in the game of life. Every adult has been a first-time buyer with little to no credit. Venturing out into life can be confusing and really stressful for some. Adulting is not an easy business and the first few steps a person makes in their financial journey can be the difference between positive outlooks or fiscal fears.

Fortunately, the North Star Community Credit Union, right here on Minot AFB, is here to help with this exact conundrum. On Saturday, April 29, from 1- 2:30 pm they will be hosting a “First Time Car Buying Seminar” open to new/young Airmen, teens and their parents looking to the future, military spouses looking to invest or anyone interested in advice about the most responsible way to purchase a vehicle.

The seminar will discuss the differences between dealerships and private sellers, down payments, credit scores, loan insurance rates, insurance costs and how to budget a monthly payment. North Star Community Credit Union states that, “We believe everyone deserves, and can achieve, financial wellness. No matter where you are in your journey, you will always have the ability to enhance your financial future.”

North Star Community Credit Union Branch Manager, Randie Ova, said that this seminar is a way to empower people in their financial journeys and make the best possible decisions for their lives. She also mentioned that the credit union is able to assist with all types of financial advice and they love to help Airmen and their families on Minot AFB.

“Anyone can build credit back up. We can work with them. We have loan officers able to help.” said Ova. “We are here to help whoever reaches out and Credit Unions nationwide have a philosophy of ‘People Helping People’. North Star has been living this mission since 1940. It is our belief that one way to help is through educating and empowering members in our communities.”
