PCS & Personal Property Prep

Written by: Racquel Labadie, GS-12, USAF Privatized Housing Resident Advocate 5th Bomb Wing

A major stressor during a PCS is what to do and how to schedule the moving of your personal property. Personal property resources are available at https://www.militaryonesource.mil under the “Moving & PCS” section. Online tools include the Defense Personal Property Program (DPS), https://dps.move.mil/, where you can upload your orders, ship household goods, manage unaccompanied baggage, arrange non-temporary storage or plan for a personally procured move. You can also track the status and location of your shipment(s) and file claims.

For personal vehicles PCSmyPOV.com is an online resource for service members moving or storing their privately owned vehicles during a PCS. Additional tools are also available on Military One Source such as a weight estimator, moving entitlements listing, packing tips and more! Visit the website or call a Military One Source consultant 24/7 for support 800-342-9647. Peak PCS season is 15 May through 30 September and our local TMO office will be busy!

If you are PCSing, separating and/or retiring, please log into DPS to start your shipment prior to going into the TMO office. With peak season approaching, full participation from Team Minot will enable TMO to be more efficient and be able to assist more members, which will decrease appointment time. Appointments are M-W-F and walk-ins are T-T from 0800-1200.
