The 91st Missile Wing proudly recognizes the 91st Missile Security Operations Squadron (MSOS) as September’s Squadron of the Month. The 91 MSOS is unique in its role as it supports missions across the 91st Security Forces Group and 91st Missile Wing.
One of its premier teams is the Convoy Response Force. Recently, the Convoy Response Force attended ARROW, an annual validation course testing the team’s ability to effectively secure strategic assets while moving between static locations. This task requires immense coordination and discipline, which were both on full display for this year’s ARROW. Five days at Camp Guernsey, Wyoming highlighted the team’s flawless integration of aerial support assets, reaction to enemy contact, and cool nerve in the face of dynamic enemy threats. The Convoy Response force was recognized for their outstanding execution at ARROW by the Commander of 20th Air Force, Major General Connor.
Though their outstanding performance at ARROW is a significant achievement for the team, the Convoy Response Force doesn’t simply demonstrate excellence for one week a year. The team is responsible for year-round execution of strategic asset movements, a mission which never stops and cannot fail. Moreover, the team is in a constant state of growth, pushing the standard for vehicle readiness, training, air defense, and coordination with partner agencies.

The Convoy Response Force is not an ordinary Security Forces unit. It is a hand-selected cadre of high-performing Defenders chosen specifically for their discipline, tactical acumen, and mental toughness. Once selected, team members undergo rigorous training engineered to prepare them for dynamic, asymmetric, and emerging enemy threats. They master high-speed vehicular tactics, close-quarters combat, advanced weapons employment, and coordinated team movements necessary to decisively defeat any adversary attempt to compromise a mission. Their specialized training ensures that no matter how complex or dangerous a situation becomes, the response is swift, synchronized, and overwhelmingly effective.

Though their performance was outstanding, their successes at ARROW would not have been possible without the support of the Tactical Response Force, which is another of the 91 MSOS’s elite teams. Trained as the primary recapture and recovery force within the missile complex, the Tactical Response Force’s support of strategic asset movements is vital to countering enemy threats and provides unique, tailored skills to defeat the nation’s adversaries.
The Tactical Response force’s airborne support provides armed overwatch, enabling the detection of enemy threats far beyond the eyes of a turret within the convoy. Their rigorous selection pipeline selects physically disciplined and mentally fortified individuals prepared to operate in some of the harshest conditions on the planet. The unique skills presented across the Convoy and Tactical Response Force teams coalesce into the world’s premier strategic asset security team. The next time you see a large group of military vehicles traveling the great plains of North Dakota, just remember: Convoy Follows!
