Jr. Journalism: In Loving Memory of My Guinea Pig

Pig and our cat Theo, 2020.

When me and my family lived in Colorado, we had a Hermit Crab – our first pet – but then he died and I was very sad, so we decided to get 2 hamsters. When we went to the pet store, we were told that hamsters could bite and are not ideal for little kids, so we decided to get a Guinea Pig instead.

The Guinea Pig we got was very tiny and cute. He lived with us for 4 years and came with us to Minot but last week, he died. I am sure that he had a great life with a clean cage and a cat and dog to be friends with. We loved him very dearly and always cared for him, so we were heartbroken when he died.

I am still very sad that he died so I decided to write a few things about him. First, his name was Pig. Second, his favorite foods were carrots, green peppers, and cucumbers. Third, even though it was fun to have him, it wasn’t that fun to clean his cage. Last, Guinea pigs make squeaking sounds whenever they want attention.

If you get a pet, you will have a lot of fun, but someday, sometimes unexpectedly, they will die. I don’t think that it would be better to not have a pet, because they are very fun to play with. You have to always remember that you should give them a lot of attention because if you don’t give them a lot of attention, it will be even more sad when they die.
I hope you already have a pet and are giving it enough attention so that it can live a long and happy life.
