Attention all local military-affiliated graduating seniors! The Minot Spouses Club is providing purple graduation cords again this year! The eligibility criteria: Military-affiliated public, private, and homeschool students with parents who are active duty, retired, or veteran military members across all branches in the local area surrounding Minot AFB.

Minot Spouses Club President Marissa Morrison

Purple represents all services and the sacrifice our youth make as they are moved around by their families, adapting to new schools and communities. These cords are a reminder that these seniors are strong, seen, and supported.

When asked why the Minot Spouses Club started this initiative in 2023, President of the Minot Spouses Club, Marissa Morrison, says, “As we find new ways to recognize our military families, we never lose sight of those who carry the weight of service in their own quiet way—our children. Military life asks much of them: frequent transitions, long separations, and constant change. Yet they rise with courage and strength beyond their years. Our military children are our most treasured blessing, and their sacrifices deserve our deepest gratitude and recognition.”

To obtain a purple graduation cord, just fill out the following survey from now until April 15th: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/26purplecord. By May 1st, I will send everyone a personalized email verifying I received your information and the location for your cord pick-up.

Please note: If you already provided your information for a purple cord earlier this year to either Minot North High School or Minot High School, I already have your information. Of course, you’re welcome to input it again in this survey. You will receive a personalized email by May 1st.

Next SY 2026-2027, pending the Minot Spouses Club’s continued sponsorship, my office—only—will send out a survey; no information will be collected by Minot North High School or Minot High School. Thank you, Ms. Shannon Murphy, Administrative Assistant at Minot North High School, and Ms. Jennifer Kranz, Administrative Assistant at Minot High School, for your former assistance!

Parents, if you have a graduating senior next year, please look out for a survey posted on my School Liaison Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/minotslo/. This survey link will also be provided on a flyer to all local schools.

Congratulations military-affiliated graduating seniors! You did it! We are so proud.
