Minot North Spring Sports: Soccer, Baseball & Softball Underway!

Bryleigh McBride, Freshman | Minot North High School

The spring season has kicked off in a big way at Minot North, and as a brand new school with growing teams, everything we do this year is history in the making. From home runs and wins and the tough losses and learning moments, every athlete is leaving their mark. It’s all about building something special—and you can feel it happening every time our teams take the field.

The Minot North baseball team is showing signs of real potential early in their season. While they’ve faced some strong opponents, they’ve also proved they can bounce back in a big way. On the road against Dickinson, they started with a 5-10 loss but turned things around in the second game, winning 9-4 behind a strong offensive effort and great teamwork. Against Century, the team struggled to find rhythm. They dropped Game 1 in a 0-5 shutout and came up short again in Game 2, 5-9. But even in the losses, there’s clear progress as the team continues to figure out how to work together as a family.

This is the very first year Minot North has had a girls varsity soccer team—and they’ve already made history.
Led by Morgan Perrin, Mia Lewis, and Diego Gaytan, the squad is focused on three big goals:

  1. Qualify for the state tournament (Top 4 in the WDA),
  2. Learn how to play at a high level as a team, and
  3. Build the kind of consistent effort it takes to succeed long-term.

They opened the season with the first win in program history with a 3-2 victory on the road in Bismarck, but then had a tough 1-6 loss to Minot High. Their first win was a huge confidence booster and a reminder that this team is capable of great things.

Minot North’s softball team has been one of the most exciting to watch so far, with big swings, even bigger scores, and the kind of energy you can hear from across campus. They started off with a 2-6 loss to Red River but immediately bounced back in Game 2 with an impressive 8-6 win. From there, they picked up steam—sweeping Century in three straight games with scores of 14-4, 10-7, and 16-6. Those games were packed with hits, hustle, and heart.

But the road got rough again with back-to-back losses to Dickinson (0-13, 6-15) and then two high-scoring games against Legacy (6-16, 15-17). Even in defeat, the team showed fight and never gave up, proving they have what it takes to keep improving.

At Minot North, every game played this year is a first. Every win is a milestone. And every loss is part of the story we’re writing together. Whether it’s baseball battling back, soccer scoring history, or softball lighting up the scoreboard, our athletes are giving everything they’ve got.

Coach Krahler said it best: “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” That’s exactly where our teams are—pushing past limits, trying new things, and building a legacy that will last for years.
There’s something exciting happening here, and this is just the beginning.
