In 1997, Minot held its first Pride of Dakota showcase, and it has been an annual event ever since. Pride of Dakota provides local business owners with the business development resources and marketing opportunities they need to achieve success.
It all started in 1985 when the former Commissioner of Agriculture, Kent Jones, asked a small group of North Dakota businesses and the Department of Agriculture’s marketing staff to develop an identifiable state brand so customers would know the products were “Made in North Dakota.” The Pride of Dakota program was officially launched the same year with about 20 companies who showcased their goods.

North Dakota entrepreneurs showcase their good and/or services at the Magic Place (All Seasons Arena) at the 2023 Pride of Dakota Showcase at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds.

Today, more than 500 companies, from large companies with more than 100 employees to mom-and-pop stores participate in the Pride of Dakota program. Member companies include food and beverage, manufacturers, publishers, artisans, gift manufacturers, and service providers. Associate members, such as commodity groups, government agencies, educational institutions, and retailers, also support the program.

What makes Pride of Dakota so special is that everything at the showcase is made in North Dakota, so shoppers are supporting their local businesses. Since the showcase is a family event, it also features a booth with children’s activities from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s Ag in Classroom program. Attendees can purchase their favorite North Dakota-made products and find unique products that include gourmet food and beverages, art, books, jewelry, sporting goods, home décor, apparel (adult and children), pet items, and much more!

The food and beverage companies will be offering free samples of their products, and concessions will also be available. Admission is free, and if a customer makes a purchase, they receive a free reusable Pride of Dakota shopping bag (while supplies last). This year, 80 Pride of Dakota companies are showcasing the North Dakota-made products on October 25-26. The shopping hours for Friday, October 25 are 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and for Saturday, October 26, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Magic Place (All Seasons) Arena in the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. Come and find unique gifts for family and friends at the Pride of Dakota Showcase!
