Provider of the Month – June

Sabrina Mulrain

What do you enjoy most about being an FCC Provider?
I love getting to go all out on decorating my space and putting together fun activities and crafts for the kids in my care. Kids are so eager to learn and make messes and play. For me personally, being able to show them that we can make messes while learning just makes the days more fun. I get to look forward to what I do next with the kids and watch them get excited to see what each week brings.

What are your interests/hobbies?
I love reading, watching movies with my family, playing board games, crafting, painting, traveling, and all things Halloween!

What advice do you have for new providers/those interested in being FCC Providers?

I think the biggest advice I would like to pass on to new providers is to give yourself some grace and don’t over stress about every little thing. There are so many moving parts to being an FCC provider, but it isn’t a one size fit all situation. You just need to focus on what is best for you and the kids in your care. And never be afraid to reach out, we have so many truly amazing FCC providers here at Minot that are always willing to give advice or help answer questions. You are not alone in this.

For those interested in becoming an FCC provider I say go for it if your heart is really in it for the kids. Our jobs aren’t just to make sure the kids are safe and happy, but also to teach them the importance of routines, rules, cleanliness, how to socialize, and so much more. We teach them through play, and we become the example they try to follow. It can be a lot at times because you take on so many other roles while caring for the children. But it is also such a wonderfully rewarding job. Those kids will win your hearts and make you want to strive to be great.
