Teen Dating Violence (TDV) affects MILLIONS of young people every year in the U.S. TDV looks like physical violence, sexual violence, psychological aggression, and stalking (in-person or online). 1 in 12 H.S. students in the United States experiences physical violence and sexual violence in their relationship.
The effects of TDV include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Unhealthy coping behaviors (substance use and abuse).
- Lying, bullying, antisocial behaviors.
- Thoughts of suicide.
What can we do to PREVENT TDV? - Teach & learn healthy relationship skills.
- Connect with influential peers and adults.
- Create safe environments.
