Teaming up for another year of bringing smiles and a welcome change of cuisine to Minot Air Force Base dormitory residents, The Northern Sentry and North Star Community Credit Union hosted a “Straight From Italy” themed dorm dinner several different dishes for dorm residents to choose from during the August Dorm Dinner.
With Noodles and Company once again providing the catered meal, attendees could choose from traditional spaghetti and meatballs, Spicy Korean Steak Noodles, or a vegan option without steak.
After a very warm week, temperatures settled into the 80s rather than climbing into triple digits, making outdoor dining a comfortable option.
Ted Bolton, publisher of The Northern Sentry, said serving those who serve is always enjoyable. “You get to talk to so many folks, find out where they are from and how they are doing in North Dakota. It’s a nice event we enjoy doing once a year.”
The Minot AFB branch manager for North Star Community Credit Union, Randie Ova said, “This is our fourth year serving a dorm dinner. It’s a good way to say thank you.”
In the outside seating area, Col. John Burrell and Chief Scott Bradbury visited and shared dinner with some of those in attendance. Several of those in attendance played BINGO and solved trivia questions and were awarded prizes.
The Chaplain Corps at Minot Air Force Base arranges and organizes the monthly dorm dinners, with different Minot community groups pitching in to provide and serve the meal.
