We had a pretty mild summer up until the weekend of July 10th-12th. The temperatures ranged from 87 degrees to 105 degrees with 100% humidity leading the wave. Despite the weather, it’s important to maintain educational awareness at home, overcoming or avoiding any “summer slide” or regression in student learning. One way to do this is to view the world in which your child is currently engaged through a new lens.
Turkeys are everywhere in our natural environment in North Dakota, so when you see a turkey – pause and reflect on the bird. Do you know how this bird was seen by Benjamin Franklin? Read “A Respectable Bird” on nwtf.org. Do you know they can fly and have amazing eyesight? Research trivia/facts. You could even try writing a funny story together with your student on these interesting birds! Learning shouldn’t be limited to the classroom, but embraced where you’re at—so wing it!
