Fire-Smart Starts Here: SPARKY’s March Safety Tips

  • Piles of old magazines and other flammable materials can easily ignite and spread a fire. Be sure to properly dispose of any clutter around your home.
  • Check for any frayed or damaged electrical cords and replace them immediately. Avoid running cords under rugs or furniture.
  • Keep your grill at least 10 feet away from your house and any other structures. Never leave a grill unattended and be sure to properly extinguish the coals when you are finished.
  • If you are planning on having a campfire, be sure to build it in a safe location away from any trees or other flammable materials. Never leave a campfire unattended and be sure to completely extinguish it before you leave.
  • Clean the lint from your dryer’s lint trap after every use. The buildup of lint can be a fire hazard.
