Are you part of a military family with school-aged children? If so, you should familiarize yourself with the MIC3 Compact. All 50 states recognize the Compact. This agreement between the states ensures military-connected students receive consistent, uniform support via policies supporting eligibility, enrollment, placement, and graduation.
You can learn more about the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) at www.mic3.net. The website has free trainings to help you better understand the compact and how to utilize it to best support your student(s) throughout their educational career. As a School Liaison Program Manager who routinely works with families and school staff on the successful implementation of the Military Interstate Compact’s provisions, I have a special appreciation for it!
As our ND MIC3 State Lead, I briefed our ND Status of Education (SOE) report in September. The state briefing sessions, presented by Military Service MIC3 State Leads, are a critical readiness tool that empowers School Liaisons, Command Teams, and senior leaders to proactively address education concerns for military-connected students. It transforms local experiences into enterprise-wide understanding and strategic action—ensuring education remains a supported pillar of the Total Force Quality of Life framework.
I also host monthly meetings with our School Liaison Program Manager at Grand Forks AFB and we share our MIC3 casework, monitoring trends. I am honored to continue to lead our military-connected student support in this area. If you have any questions, please reach out at mafb.school.liaison@us.af.mil or 701-240-2380.
