Sentinels Storm Toward State-A Big Week For Minot North Athletics

Sentinel Boys stand proud for the National Anthem.

On November 7th, Minot North football secured their place in school history with a thrilling 21–17 win over the Central Cass Squirrels in the state semi-finals. The Sentinels fought hard from start to finish, showing grit and focus in a back-and-forth battle that came down to the final minutes, and through the first snow. With the win, Minot North advances to the Dakota Bowl in Fargo, where they’ll compete for the state championship this Friday. The victory marks a major milestone for the young program, which has quickly established itself as a powerhouse in North Dakota high school football.

The girls’ swim team also made waves at the Western Dakota Association Championships, held November 7th and 8th at the Mandan Aquatic Center. The Sentinels finished 8th overall with 125 points, capping off a season filled with personal bests and team growth. Leading the way was Abby Wake, who earned WDA All-Conference honors and placed 7th in the 100 free and 10th in the 50 free. Other standout performances included Zoe Bahr, who took 4th in the 100 breaststroke; Macey Blake, who placed 10th in diving; and Ellia Gemar, who finished 14th in the 500 free and 15th in the 200 free. Chloe Kraft added a 15th-place finish in the 50 free, and Lainey Martin took 14th in the 100 free. The team’s hard work and dedication were on full display as they closed out their season with strong swims across the board.

Meanwhile, Sentinel volleyball continued their strong run with a series of key wins, defeating St. Mary’s twice, 3–1 and 3–2, and sweeping the Williston Coyotes 3–0. The team’s energy, communication, and composure under pressure have carried them to impressive results as they head into the postseason.

From the pool to the court and the field, Minot North athletes have shown incredible effort, teamwork, and school pride. As the Sentinels head into the final stretch of fall sports, the community is rallying behind them, especially the football team, as they prepare to represent Minot North on the biggest stage of all: the Dakota Bowl in Fargo.
