The government shutdown, one of the longest in U.S. history, has presented challenges for Air Force members and their families. Yet Minot Air Force Base continues to defend and preserve its mission without fail. While essential tasks are still being met, a few adjustments have been made to how some base organizations operate.
One major effect of the shutdown is a pause on any written or shared news and updates to government websites. Although the 5th Bomb Wing Public Affairs Office remains fully staffed and on duty, it is currently unable to publish articles about the base or escort outside press for interviews with military members. Because of this, The Northern Sentry – along with other news outlets – will not have access to official military news until the shutdown ends.
We want to inform our readers that we’ll continue serving the MAFB community. However, during the shutdown, our editions will include little to no military-related content.
The Northern Sentry’s mission has always been to “Share the Minot AFB Adventure,” and we’ll continue to do so by highlighting stories about spouses, families, and everyday life on base.
Since we’ve got some extra space to fill, we’d love your help! Do you know someone on base with a unique talent? A volunteer organization making a difference? Or maybe a kid who went out of their way to help another? Whatever it is—we want to hear about it! Send story ideas to our Facebook page or email erin.beene@willowtreemarketing.com
