The fall sports season is in full swing at Minot North High School, and the past week has been a whirlwind of athletic achievements, nail-biting contests, and individual highlights that showcase the dedication and talent of the school’s student-athletes. From football to swimming, volleyball, and student congress competitions, Minot North has experienced both challenges and triumphs.
On Friday, October 10th, Minot North’s football team faced Devils Lake at home in what turned out to be their closest game yet this season. Continuing an impressive winning streak, the team managed to secure a hard-fought victory, 26-20. The game was a testament to the team’s resilience and determination, as the Devils Lake squad pushed the Sentinels to their limits. Every touchdown and defensive stop became crucial, highlighting both the skill and composure of the players under pressure. The win not only extended Minot North’s streak but also offered a glimpse at how the team handles close contests, which will be key as the season heads into its final stretch.

Meanwhile, the girls swim team traveled to Legacy for a competitive meet, facing strong opponents in a challenging environment. Although the team fell to Legacy with a final score of 67-116, there were bright spots to celebrate. Standout swimmers Ellia Gemar and Macey Blake both delivered exceptional performances, earning qualification for the state meet. Their individual achievements reflect countless hours of practice and dedication, and they bring pride to the entire team. While the score might not have been what the Wildcats hoped for, the determination displayed by all swimmers demonstrates the program’s growth and commitment to excellence.
In the academic-competitive arena, Minot North’s Student Congress representatives had an outstanding weekend at the West Congress meet. Bryleigh McBride achieved an impressive 3rd place finish in House 4, while Ilana Tyan secured 6th place in House 5. Overall, the Sentinels finished with a 10-13 record, reflecting a season of intense competition and steady improvement. While some matches were challenging, the players demonstrated grit, determination, and the ability to adapt, traits that will serve them well in the remainder of the season.
