
The 5th Bomb Wing Safety team is comprised of 12 professionals responsible for Flight, Occupational, and Weapons Safety on Minot Air Force Base. The office promotes an environment that maximizes combat capability through mishap prevention by instilling a strong culture of safety and wise risk management across all operations while developing professionals and guiding safety compliance installation-wide.

The Flight Safety office is the center for investigation and prevention for the base’s 27 B-52s, 8 UH-1s, and 8,700 annual flying hours and home to Global Strike Command’s Flight Safety Officer and Additional Duty Safety Professional of the year.
The Occupational Safety office annually inspects 24 units and 4.4M square feet of real property while leading 211 safety professionals across the installation and won Global Strike Command’s Occupational Safety Office of the Year. The Weapons Safety Office leads nuclear surety for the most devastating base in the Department of Defense, setting the standard for programs across 2 other Air Force Bases, and was awarded Global Strike Command’s Weapons Safety Office of the year. Together, Global Strike Command’s #1 safety office looks out for the 12.5K Airmen, civilians, and families that make up the Minot Air Force Base community.
