Minot North athletes delivered standout performances across multiple sports at this year’s Western Dakota Association (WDA) tournaments, bringing home medals, honors, and state qualifications. From golf’s powerful second-place finish to gritty efforts on the softball diamond and fierce tennis matches, the Sentinels made their presence known in a big way.

Minot North’s boys golf team had an exceptional showing at the WDA Tournament, securing a second-place team finish with an outstanding score of 305, clinching their spot at the State Tournament. The strong performance marked one of the best showings of the season and reflected months of consistent work, discipline, and team growth.

Kasen Rostad led the team with a stellar 73, placing him third individually. Right behind him was Teegan Dangel, who shot a 76 to earn eighth place overall. The duo has consistently been among the top players for Minot North and proved their strength once again under tournament pressure.

Recognition followed the team’s performance. Kasen Rostad, Walter Langhans, and Bennett Bartsch were named to the All-WDA Team, highlighting their consistency and contribution throughout the season. Rostad’s incredible season also earned him the prestigious WDA Athlete of the Year title.

In addition to his WDA honors, Rostad received All-Region recognition, along with teammate Teegan Dangel. These accolades further reinforce the team’s high level of play this year, with strong potential heading into state.
Their achievements wouldn’t have been possible without guidance from Coach Shane Hannegrafs, who was named WDA Coach of the Year. Hannegrafs’ leadership and dedication to the team’s development have made a lasting impact, both on and off the course.

With momentum on their side, Minot North Golf now heads to the State Tournament with high hopes and strong team chemistry, aiming for more success.

Minot North Softball faced a pair of tough matchups at the WDA Tournament, falling to Minot High 1–10 in their opening game and Jamestown 5–15 in their second. Despite the final scores, the team showed resilience and determination, battling through a long and competitive season.

This year’s Sentinel squad demonstrated heart and growth, with several young players stepping up into key roles. While the tournament didn’t end the way they had hoped, the girls never stopped working hard or playing for each other.

One of the season’s brightest stars was senior Cadey Shipman, who closed out her high school career with multiple honors, and is headed to play for NDSU. Shipman was named to the
All-WDA Conference Team and was honored as Senior Athlete of the Year for Minot North Softball. Her leadership, powerful presence at the plate, and defensive skills made her an invaluable part of the team. Coaches and teammates alike recognized her as the emotional core of the lineup. As the team looks toward the future, Shipman’s example will serve as inspiration for the younger players, helping to shape the program for seasons to come.

Minot North Tennis also had reason to celebrate at the WDA Tournament. Addy Clark battled through tough matches and finished in sixth place, earning her a ticket to the State Tennis Tournament.
Clark has been a key contributor throughout the season, consistently showing mental toughness and technical skill against top competitors. Her strong performance at WDA is the culmination of dedicated practice and steady improvement.

With the State Tournament approaching, Clark is focused and ready to represent Minot North at the next level. Her qualification adds to an already impressive slate of achievements across Minot North athletics this spring.
Whether it’s on the green, the diamond, or the court, the Sentinels have proven their dedication, resilience, and competitive spirit. As multiple athletes prepare to compete at the state level, Minot North’s spring sports season continues to be one to remember.
