The Minot North Girls Track & Field team is off to a strong start with an impressive 60 athletes committed to competing in events across the board—sprints, distance, throws, and jumps. Led by Head Coach Kaiya Chell and assistant coach Melissa Solper, the team has cultivated a fun, encouraging, and disciplined environment. “We have fun and do our best to create a positive athletic environment,” said Coach Solper. “They’re hardworking athletes who give it their best at practice and meets.” That hard work is paying off. As of April 9th, six athletes have already qualified for postseason competition—a strong indicator of the team’s potential this year. Standout performances include:
Kaiya Chell (Shot Put) – 36 feet
McKinnley Kragh (Pole Vault) – 9’6”
4 x 100 Relay Team – Codey Irwin, Riley Hansen, Nola Burgett, and Malia Magee
Outdoor meets have kicked off with promising signs. Times are dropping, throws are flying farther, and the team is growing in both skill and confidence. With a blend of experienced upperclassmen and eager underclassmen, Minot North Girls Track & Field is building momentum heading into the heart of the season. Coach Solper, who also teaches Physical Education at Roosevelt and John Hoeven Middle Schools, brings her energy and leadership into every practice, fostering not only athletic growth but also character and camaraderie among her athletes.
