The Severson Ahart Community Clinic, located within the Souris Valley Animal Shelter at 1935 20th Ave. SE is an exciting new addition for pet lovers across Minot. Officially opening its doors just a few months ago, the clinic provides a wide range of veterinary services with a special focus on compassion, accessibility, and affordability, which is particularly helpful for military families stationed here at Minot Air Force Base.

The Severson Ahart clinic offers essential services such as wellness exams, vaccinations, spay and neuter surgeries, parasite control, microchipping, and limited minor urgent care. The clinic ensures pets can receive high-quality treatment at an affordable price and in a comfortable environment, an especially meaningful resource for those navigating military life.

Designed to support cats and dogs through every stage of life, the clinic provides both routine and advanced diagnostics, including blood panels and microscopic testing. Pet owners also benefit from personalized vaccination schedules tailored to their pets’ age, lifestyle, and local environmental risks. These individualized care plans help protect against diseases like rabies and distemper while also offering preventive treatments for common parasites such as fleas and ticks. Notably, a general check-up at the Severson Ahart Community Clinic is priced at $60, making it an affordable option for routine veterinary care.

The facility is equipped to perform basic surgeries, including dental cleanings and spay/neuter procedures, all delivered with the utmost care by a dedicated team of experienced veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Their professionalism and compassion ensure that each pet receives attentive, quality care in a comfortable environment.

The Severson Ahart Community Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 701-852-6133 or emailing clinic@svaspets.com, making it easy for pet owners to find convenient times without lengthy waitlists. While not as overwhelmed as other veterinary clinics near Minot Air Force Base, the Severson Ahart Community Clinic still offers a much-needed alternative for pet owners who may have difficulty finding an appointment elsewhere. The clinic maintains a steady schedule and works hard to accommodate pet owners in a timely manner, making it an excellent option for military families and other community members who want to ensure their pets receive the care they need without long delays.
In addition to the veterinary clinic, the Souris Valley Animal Shelter now serves as the City of Minot’s official animal pound. As of January 2025, it manages impounded animals and provides emergency housing for pets in need, further strengthening its role as a cornerstone of animal welfare in the community.

The Severson Ahart Community Clinic stands as a testament to the incredible impact of community support. Its creation was made possible through the generosity of local philanthropists Clint Severson and Conni Ahart, whose contributions enabled the construction of the clinic within the shelter. Today, it continues to rely on the community through donations, local events, and volunteer involvement. “Community involvement is incredibly important to us; we’re always looking for more volunteers,” said a staff member at the shelter. Events such as the annual SVAS Gala not only build community spirit but also provide critical funding to sustain services like surgeries, vaccinations, and adoptions. Every success story that begins at the clinic reflects the compassion and commitment of the Minot community.

The Severson Ahart Community Clinic is more than just a veterinary facility; it’s a symbol of what can be achieved when the community comes together to care for its most vulnerable members. Whether you’re new to Minot or have called it home for years, the clinic is a trusted resource dedicated to helping your pets live long, healthy lives.
