Senior Airman Alyssa Bankston, 5th Bomb Wing Public Affairs

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. — U.S. Air Force Col. Jesse Lamarand, 5th Bomb Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Wayne Sharp, 5BW command chief, hosted their first all-calls of 2025 here, Jan. 14-15.
The command team used this opportunity to communicate their leadership philosophies, goals, values and priorities over the next few months down to the Warbirds of the 5BW.

With the new year, the command team shared the 5BW’s new mission statement and vision.
Lamarand said the mission of the 5BW is “to produce Combat Mission Ready Airmen always ready to support, execute, and defend global strike capability – at any time, from anywhere.”

“This is a no-fail mission,” said Lamarand. “We must provide a safe, secure and reliable environment.”
Lamarand explained that to have mission success, a solid foundation of operational discipline, dignity and respect is required both at work and home.

“It doesn’t end at 1700,” said Lamarand. “ We need teammates thriving. At work and at home.”
The vision of the 5BW is to create a strong team and culture of disciplined professionals thriving at work and at home – supporting each other to achieve mission success.

When talking about being a good Airman, Sharp emphasized, “J-BAG-P.” J-BAG-P stands for “just be a good person.” Sharp mentioned that a lot can get done if one can “just be a good person,” and be a team player.
The command team concluded the all-call by expressing gratitude to the Airmen and their families who execute and support the unique mission at Minot AFB. Whether it’s waking up before the sun to get out to a sub-zero flight line, or supporting fellow Airmen when such a vital mission is on the line, the command team recognizes their importance and is grateful for all they do.
