The new year is here. As military families, we can’t predict what will come in the coming months and years. We live with unpredictability and yet we embrace current situations. 2025 will likely be the same. However, while we can’t predict the future, we can be prepared for what we do know is coming. And the Northern Sentry is here to offer even more ways to support YOU and the MAFB Community this year.
Here are some things to look forward this year, from us to you:

1. Launching a BRAND New website!
   The new NorthernSentry.com, coming mid-January, will feature an updated format and modernized design. The new site will allow for easier viewing for the user, as well as more opportunity for growth so we can find even more ways to serve you. More details about the release coming soon!
2. Current programs will be even BETTER
   With the launch of the new website, we are doing a bigger push to show you all the programs, like Junior Journalism, the FREE Community Calendar, giveaways and photo contests. We love doing these things for you, but will do a better job this year to make sure more people know about them so even more can enjoy them.
3. For the 3rd year, the Best of MAFB Awards will usher in local competition
   These awards are your chance to vote for the best places to eat, shop, go to school and enjoy both on and off base! The nominations start in February, so don’t miss this chance to brag about your favorite places!
4. Special feature about the MAFB Chief Selects
   This is one of FAVORITE editions because we interview each new Chief Master Sergeants on base and get to highlight theory lives, careers and how they feel about reaching this major military milestone. Keep and eye out for this special edition in March or April.
5. Will keep you informed about even more base happenings.
   With a full team of base reporters now, we strive to cover and get you information about everything that affects the base community. If you know of anything happening around base that you think everyone needs to know about. Please reach out to us! We love sharing your stories of personal growth, interesting personalities or spreading awareness about base events and programs.

These are just a few of the community support outreach programs the Northern Sentry will host in the next few months. However, we are always open to your ideas.
