Last week, I was privileged to experience the final middle school swim meet for Minot Public Schools. The schools were Jim Hill Middle School and Ramstad Middle School. However, there was representation of our very own Memorial Middle School. This prompted the thought of how important it is for our students to be engaged in enrichment and after-school programs at their local school.
In today’s fast-paced world, after-school and enrichment activities play an important role in a child’s development. They offer opportunities for growth, learning, and family bonding. For children, participation in these activities fosters new skills, builds self-esteem, and exposes them to experiences beyond the classroom. Whether it’s arts, sports, STEM clubs, or tutoring sessions, these programs allow children to explore interests, develop social skills, and strengthen their academic performance.
Additionally, family involvement in school programming and after-school activities can also elevate the benefits. When parents or guardians engage in their child’s enrichment or after-school they demonstrate the value of learning and personal growth. This involvement also helps create a support system, boosting a child’s confidence and reinforcing the importance of commitment and responsibility.
If your child participates in enrichment or sports activities at our Minot AFB Schools and there is a desire to highlight their participation, please send a photo and brief description of the activity, and accomplishments to mafb.school.liaison@us.af.mil.
I will work with Minot Air Force Base Northern Sentry to ensure these students and their experiences are highlighted!
