Exciting Fall and Winter Events at the Magic City Discovery Center

As the air turns crisp and the holidays approach, the Magic City Discovery Center is buzzing with activities for both children and adults. We invite you to join us for a packed schedule of fun, educational, and creative events running from October through the winter months. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s in store:

October Highlights:

  • Tiny Thinkers (Oct 10, 17, 24, 31, 10:30 AM, all ages welcome): Our popular program for toddlers and preschoolers continues every week, offering hands-on learning and fun.
  • Spooky Science & Art (Oct 9, 2–4 PM, ages 4-9): A hauntingly fun afternoon of experiments and creative Halloween crafts.
  • Feature Friday (Oct 11, 3:30-5:30 PM, all ages welcome): Meet real firefighters and craft your very own Juicebox Firetruck! An exciting day for curious kids.
  • Ink & Imagination (Oct 17 & 18, 10 AM-12 PM, ages 4-9): Explore the art of storytelling in this two day, collaborative illustration and writing class.
  • Chopped! Halloween Edition (Oct 26, 12-2 PM, ages 5-14): An artistic twist on the cooking show, only this time with a SpOoKy twist!
  • Sensory Night (Oct 21, 4-5:30 PM, all ages welcome): In collaboration with Chatter Pediatric Therapy, this event is tailored to children with sensory processing needs.

November Adventures:

  • Adult Sip & Craft (Nov 8, 6-8 PM, ages 21+): Grab a drink and get into the holiday spirit by creating the ugliest Christmas sweater in our first “Crafting Through the Cold” of the season.
  • Eric Carle Class (Nov 11, 10 AM – 12 PM, ages 4-9): Inspired by the beloved author and illustrator known for his vibrant, textured artwork, this class offers a creative exploration of collage and printing techniques.
  • Sewing Machine Basics (Nov 11, 9 AM – 12 PM, ages 10-18): Learn the ins and outs of sewing machines and start your own projects.
  • Chopped! Holiday Edition (Nov 20, 2-4 PM, ages 7-14): Another round of Chopped at the Discovery Center! An artistic twist on the cooking show, only this time with the magic of the Holiday Season!

December Festivities:

  • Kids Gift Make & Take Sessions (Dec 7, 12–4 PM, ages 4-16): Get creative and join us for a festive 45-minute crafting session where kids can create delightful holiday gifts to give to family and friends!
  • Tiny Thinker – SANTA!!! (Dec 12): A special Storytime where Santa himself will be joining the fun.
  • Adult Sip & Craft (Dec 13, 6-8 PM, ages 21+): Celebrate Friday the 13th with “The Nightmare before Christmas” themed crafts at this session of “Crafting Through the Cold!”
  • Grinch Labs Mini Camp (Dec 27, 12–4 PM, ages 4-9): A mischievous afternoon of exploring the science behind the classic holiday movie, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”
  • Engineering Minds: Coding & Robotics (Dec 27, 12–4 PM, ages 10+): explore coding fundamentals and create codes for our Dash robots to follow!
