Do you have a local home-based business and are finding it hard to really promote yourself? Or maybe you just want to find a local person within the community who makes or sells a specific product, but you are not having much luck searching on the Facebook groups. Perhaps you even recently moved here from an overseas base and you miss having something like the Bazaar to attend?
Currently, Minot AFB does not have a market Bazaar or anything similar. And other than some posts on the Facebook pages, there isn’t really a specific place to market or search for products offered by local home-based businesses. Carrie Driver, a military spouse from right here at Minot AFB, saw a need for a place where home-based businesses could show off their services. She also imagined a place where people can gather to look around, shop, eat, and support other military families as a community. Carrie is putting together a neighborhood vendor event right here on Minot AFB at the Neighborhood Center on June 8Th from 10am to 4pm. This event will be the perfect place to not only promote your own home-based business but will also give the opportunity to shop at and support other military family businesses.
So far around 25-30 people have signed up to be vendors at this event. There will be vendors selling everything from homemade jewelry, resin tumblers, Scentsy, sourdough baked goods, crochet stuffed animals, hand sewn items, body butters, Tupperware, and more. There will also be a couple food vendors and some craft vendors to include someone offering fairy hair. Even a few children will be there to market some of their home businesses.
Carrie also has two local non-profits signed up for this event, For Belle’s Sake Animal Rescue and Holly Jacob’s promoting mental health will be in attendance. This event is the perfect place to not only support other military families, but also to see what kinds of things are being offered as a service within the military community.
This event will be not only be free to attend but will also be free of charge for those wanting to sign up as a vendor. Carrie believes in making this the perfect place to market and support spouses and military families with their businesses, as well as being a great way to bring our community together.
This will be the first such event in the works, but don’t fret if you miss out on this one as Carrie has plans to offer more vendor events like this in future. So, head on over to the Neighborhood Center on Saturday June 8th to check out all the vendors and maybe even grab something special for dad as this event is right in time for Father’s Day!
