Alright Minot AFB, I know we military families love a good bargain on some great stuff! Which is why I NEED to tell you about the reopening of the Thrift Store and Cinderella’s Boutique on August 1st! These two are gems I found early on in my time here at Minot and was surprised to find that not a lot of people know about them. Both of these spots are located at 220 Peacekeeper Place – the same building as the post office and share the hallway with the Airman’s Attic. The great thing about these two places is that they are strictly here to benefit the base community.
Let’s start with the Thrift Store. It is run by the Minot Air Force Base Spouses club and all the money made by the store is donated back to the base in various ways. For example, some of the funds go to the Air Force Ball, scholarships and the reading programs at the library. Did you know that any private organization on base can request funds from the club for events? What an awesome resource!
They recently closed for the month of July to do a revamp of the entire store and switch out their inventory to completely new items. With over 500 pounds of donations, safe to say this store is going to be opening with some great new items! And even better, each week a specific colored tag will be half off. Whether it be to donate for others during a PCS clean out, or to look for some thrifty finds, this is definitely a must see stop at MAFB.
As you know, I am a military spouse myself. I have attended balls, ALS graduations, promotions, and more. It is always such a struggle to find the right dress for all the occasions and is never budget friendly. That’s where Cinderella’s Boutique comes in. With over 300 dresses in all different sizes and styles, you can find the perfect dress for any occasion. This is available for anyone affiliated with the military- including retirees! The only cost to you is to have the dress dry cleaned at the end of the event. Make sure to stop by and check out the supply for the Air Force Ball coming in September!
