SVAS Hosts Barktober for the Month of
October

Written by: Souris Valley Animal Shelter

To celebrate Barktober, the Souris Valley Animal Shelter (SVAS) is excited to announce a full month of adoption events occurring October 1st through October 31st!

The month will kick-off with the Bissell Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelter” event where all adult
dogs aged one year and older will have an adoption fee of $50 until October 8th. This is in thanks to Cathy Bissell, who will sponsor the rest of the adoption fee.

From October 9th through 15th, all dog adopters will be entered into various raffles to win fun human and dog-related gift baskets! Drawings will be live on October 15th. You do not want to miss the Barks and Booze basket!

The following week, October 16th through the 22nd, all dog adopters are winners with our fun
BINGO themed adoption week. Prizes range from discounted adoption prices to completely free adoptions.

Finishing off Barktober, October 23nd through the 31st is ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS adoptions.
Dog adopters will face-off with our adoption team at checkout, playing “Rock, Paper, Scissors”. If the adopter wins, they will receive $50 off their adoption fee (and we might just throw in a toy for your new pup)!

Don’t need to adopt a dog? From October 26th through the 29th SVAS is hosting a reverse “Trick or Treat” event! Our shelter dogs who have not been adopted need the extra love. Please bring them their favorite “treats” to put in their Hallween buckets located at the front desk. They take their bucket of goodies to their next loving home! We ask for soft treats, toys, poop bags, or anything you think a pup might love.

We cannot wait to make Barktober the very best.
