Our “Lady Bombers” Minot Air Force Base Women’s volleyball team makes this year their 3rd consecutive year participating at the USA Volleyball Open National Championship. This year’s tournament took place in Colombus, Ohio from May 24 to May 29th.

The Lady Bombers participated in the B Category for women’s and played against seven teams from all around the USA. They finished second on their first day/round with a record of five sets won and two lost. They were expecting to also take some wins on the second day/round, but lamentably one of the starter players, SSgt Paramo, Justine with 5 MDG injured her knee while jumping on a play during their first set of the day.

With SSgt Paramo out of commission, the team had to move three players to different positions, including placing two mainly defensive players to play all around with the offense. This affected the dynamics of the team and allowed the other teams to take advantage of facing Lady Bombers with one less blocker/hitter. However, the Lady Bombers kept fighting with what they had and came close in scoring with some of the team and overall finish 13th in rank in the whole National Championship.

Despite the odds, they finished with good rank and went up in ranking from last year which they ranked 23rd out of 63 teams.
